The Cerbo GX can become the link between the Victron energy system and PLCs, supervisory systems, home-automation platforms, IoT applications and custom-developed software.
Cerbo GX Integration: Modbus TCP, MQTT, Node-RED
Through Modbus TCP, MQTT, Node-RED and other protocols or interfaces compatible with the system architecture, the Cerbo GX can effectively integrate with third-party systems and platforms.
Modbus TCP is the method most frequently used to exchange data with PLCs and controllers, because the Cerbo GX supports it natively and, through it, is able to expose the variables of the connected equipment for collection and processing, in both read and write mode.
Victron provides the mapping of the available variables together with the instructions for collecting them.
The integration activities
The work is therefore not limited to simple telemetry or to reading and analysing data: it is also possible to use the automation environment available on the Cerbo to analyse the connected devices and identify the variables that are truly useful, checking addresses, Unit IDs, scale factors, units of measurement and update rates.
By way of example, systems-level guidance can be provided on which information to represent, such as:
voltages, currents and power values;
battery state of charge;
photovoltaic production;
consumption and energy flows;
operating states and alarms;
data useful for diagnostics and maintenance.
Third-party platforms
The variables can be transferred to PLCs, SCADA systems, dashboards, databases, Home Assistant, cloud systems or custom applications.
Much of the integration work can be carried out entirely remotely, from the initial assessment through to configuration and testing.
